Brenda worked in a financial firm as a supervisor. When she got married, many things changed. When her children arrived, she had to dedicate more time to them, and she was obliged to leave her job. At home, she was able to save some of the money that her husband gave her and she thought of doing something in her home. Her brother is an egg wholesaler, and he gave her the idea of selling eggs in her own home. This is how she started her business selling eggs retail, only by the kilo. Her main buyers were her neighbours and those who passed by the door of her home, but she now also sells them wholesale. She has many customers; stores, restaurants and other businesses. She also helps with another business, cell phone sales. This gives her external earnings. On top of having a profitable business, she wants to dedicate herself fully to this business. It is a project that she hopes to fulfill with her husband who always supports her. She is saving for this to store up capital. This loan will be used to proviD. merchandise for her egg sales business and to continue working toward her goals.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
