This committee was formed as a result of the initiative of its members upon learning about the Committee of Women Entrepreneurs Program. They made the decision to work so that they could help their spouses move their families forward in the best way possible. All of the women in this committee come from modest families. They are hard workers who want to see their children complete a higher education so that they can have a better life.

One of the members is Sra. Nelida who sells eggs and chickens. She says this business requires a great amount of attention because the birds are very delicate in terms of their care. Her greatest source of revenue is the sale of eggs, but she also earns income when she sells hens that she no longer needs.

Nelida sells the eggs to different businesses in the area. Her customers constantly request her product in large quantities. She is requesting a loan because she currently needs to buy specialized feed for her hens.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
