Elkhan R. is a 45-year-old farmer who raises seasonal fruits and vegetables and also raises cattle. He is married and has three children.
Elkhan’s monthly income is 200-300 AZN and he has eleven years of experience in this field. He sells fruits and vegetables in the local bazaar and uses his cows for milk and milk products.
Now Elkhan has applied for 1,000 AZN in order to purchase one milk cow and more seeds. He will use this cow to start selling milk to the local people.
Aqroinvest Credit Union was founded by a group of 32 Imishli farmers in 2001, and has grown to become one of the largest credit unions in Azerbaijan. It boasts a portfolio of nearly $5 million and is wholly owned by its more than 3,500 borrowers, as of December 2011.
