Vagif H. is a 57-year-old man who breeds sheep and cattle in the small village of Bilasuvar city. He is married and has three children. He has been engaged in this business for the last 15 years.
He sells cattle to the local butchers and cafes. His monthly income is about 250 to 300 Azerbaijani New Manat. He plans to use his loan to buy a milk cow and several sheep.
Aqroinvest Credit Union was founded by a group of 32 Imishli farmers in 2001, and has grown to become one of the largest credit unions in Azerbaijan. It boasts a portfolio of nearly $5 million and is wholly owned by its more than 3,500 borrowers, as of December 2011.
