Khairan's Group
In this Group: Khairan , Parveen Akhtar, Naveeda, Rukhsana, Sakina
Khairan lives with her family in a city called Lahore, which is also known as “the heart of Pakistan”. She is a working lady. She sells bangles and ready-made clothes to share the financial burden with her husband. Her husband is a fruit vendor. He sells fruit by going to different areas of the community on his bicycle. He visits different places in the city to sell his fruit. He earns approximately 12-15 thousand PKRs every month, which has become insufficient to meet the financial expenses of his family. Because he used to buy fruit on a daily basis, he has to pay first. Now he has decided to start supplying the fruit to different fruit shops so he gets the required income with profit on the same day.

Therefore, Khairan has applied for a loan from Asasah for her husband. With the loan, he will be able to buy seasonal fruit in bulk and sell it to more fruit shops. She is hopeful that, in this way, her husband can increase his income sufficiently.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
