Nancy is 44 years old. She is married and has been blessed with 4 children, ages ranging from 19 and 28. Her youngest child is currently attending school.
Nancy has been farming for the last 3 years in Kisii town, Western Kenya. Her farm produces maize and groundnuts which she sells to the local market. She also owns and earns income from her rental houses in the same area. Her major challenges have been lack of enough capital and seasonal changes which affects her produce.
She has requested this loan through Juhudi Kilimo of KES.45,000 to purchase and feed a dairy cow. She says that she will have enough milk for domestic consumption and sale. The extra income from this loan will enable her to send her child to college.
She says that Juhudi should increase the amount of first loans and is grateful to Juhudi for supporting farmers.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
