Oripha is 48 years old. She is a widowed mother of 2 children, ages 12 and 16, with both children attending school. She has been operating her mixed farm for 10 years in Kisii town, Western Kenya. She solely depends on the income from her farming activities to cater for the needs of her family.
Her biggest challenges have been lack of animal feeds, natural calamities and diseases, and the high competition in the market which affect her production.
Oripha has requested this loan from Juhudi Kilimo of KES. 60,000 to purchase a water tank for collecting water for her dairy cows. She believes that this water tank will help increase her production.
In the future, she hopes to purchase a quality dairy cow that will produce 60 litres of milk daily. She is grateful to Juhudi for the financial support.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
