Irina, divorced with a two-year-old son, has been selling women's clothing at one of the markets in Melitopol, Ukraine for the past six years. Assisted by her parents who provided her with some initial working capital, over time Irina has developed her business and gained loyal customers. Today, she has 20,000 UAH in inventory, and her monthly net profit is about 4,500 UAH. Irina would now like to borrow 9,000 UAH to increase the range of her inventory, hoping to make additional profit and improve her living conditions.
About HOPE Ukraine
HOPE International, a Christian faith-based non-profit organization, has been operating in Ukraine since 1997. HOPE Ukraine was the organization’s first international venture. In addition to its core microfinance activities, HOPE also supports an active children's ministry in Ukraine in the form of “Tomorrow Clubs,” after-school programs that teach children the gospel through games, skits and songs.
