Sinafea S. is a 19 year old mother in Faleu Manono who runs a very successful fishing business. Her husband works at Yasaki and she relies on him to make payments and help support the family. They have one child who is in school.
This will be Sinafea's fifth loan and she will use it for home improvement. She believes these loans will be the beginning of success for her and her family.
South Pacific Business Development (SPBD) improves conditions for families living in poverty by providing accessible credit, training, and guidance to help them start, grow and maintain micro-businesses, build assets, finance home improvements, and afford to educate their children. 99% of SPBD’s loans go to women, who can borrow in groups to guarantee one another rather than put up collateral.
