Mrs. Soeup S. has established a small home where she lives with her family. To earn a living, she raises a few vegetables and has been cultivating crops since 2000. Soeup S. has two children who are students at the public school. She has another partner in her husband, who has learned to decorate and paint vehicles from a private school. He has been using his skill to earn a living and uses a rented workshop to provide his service. Soeup S. is taking out her first loan to buy modern accessories for her husband to improve the good service he provides.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
