Khalida J. is a 43 year old woman who runs her men's clothes business and has been doing this for the past years. She rents a shop in Agsu central bazaar. She brings clothes from Baku city, which is about 1.5 hours away from her home. She goes for a trip every month and her current income is 180-200 AZN per month. Khalida is married and has three children. She has applied for 1000 AZN in order to increase her profit and to purchase more merchandise for her shop.
Aqroinvest Credit Union was founded by a group of 32 Imishli farmers in 2001, and has grown to become one of the largest credit unions in Azerbaijan. It boasts a portfolio of nearly $5 million and is wholly owned by its more than 3,500 borrowers, as of December 2011.
