Richard is a married man with one son who is 2 years old and too young for school. He has been operating his goat meat business for the last two years. With the 40,000 KES he wants to purchase ten goats for meat sales. Previously he was a hawker. The challenges he faces are high transport costs and seasonality. His other source of income is his food stall business.
Richard rents a house with electricity but no piped water. He cites food, medication and rent as his greatest monthly expenses. He decided to work with YEHU in order to access loans and improve his standard of living. Richard hopes to start a dairy farm business in the future.
About Yehu Microfinance Trust
This loan is administered by Yehu Microfinance Trust, which was founded in 1998 as a project of CHOICE Humanitarian Kenya. In July 2007, Yehu became a separate entity from CHOICE and was registered as a trust. Since then, Yehu has expanded to cover over half of Kenya’s 13 coastal districts.
