Mrs. Sok N. is a 44-year-old resident of Kompong Cham Province. She sells fruit that she buys in bulk. Sok N. has a life partner in her husband who appears on the right of the photo. He is a barber. The couple has two teenage children, both employed, and two who go to school. Sok N. is taking out her first loan to use towards purchasing an old car, barbering materials, and a piece of farmland where she will farm rice to make additional income.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
