Betty is married with five children and all her children go to school. She also takes care of her brother’s son.
She is a mushroom grower in Kisaasi and sells mushrooms to all the supermarkets in Kisaasi and some in Kampala city. She wants this loan to buy more millet and seeds for mushroom growing. She has been in this mushroom growing business for three years. Betty sells to all categories of people, both retail and wholesale.
Besides this business she also owns rental rooms. She works six days a week. Her business challenges include transportation and defaulters. She wants to start exporting her mushrooms to other African countries.
Betty joined MCDT because she wanted additional capital and because of their low interest rates compared to other MFI’s. She owns and lives in a three-room house and the family has access to electricity and piped water. Her monthly expenses include food, medication and school fees.
