Mrs. Sophoan Muong Group's story

Mrs. Sophoan Muong is a village bank president who has been selected by the ten group members who all live in Trapeang Ta Eak village in Kampong Speu province. She is a farmer who owns a small piece of land to cultivate rice. They have taken out a loan as part of AMK’s loan workout program. Each client has an outstanding loan with AMK that they are unable to repay.

Mrs. Sophoan Muong has three children: one is a taxi driver, the second child is employed in a garment factory and the youngest child is attending school. Her husband is a taxi diver who makes a small income to support the family.

As part of AMK’s workout program, each client is trained to produce a product. The ten members of Sophoan Muong’s group have been trained to produce papers. They have been given a loan to purchase raw material and equipment to create papers, while AMK provides them with materials to produce the goods. Ahkun.org will purchase the goods from the clients and sell them on their website. Profits from the sale will go to the group to further help them pay off their outstanding loans, and the loans of their fellow villagers who are in the same difficult position.
