Benkadi 2 is a group of married women from the village of Toura Nabitokan in the city of San in the Ségou region (4th largest administrative region of the republic of Mali) who live in traditional families. They are on average 37 years old, with five children, and grow peanuts. In order to ensure that their agricultural investments are profitable, the members of this group decided three years ago to become active in the loan program of Soro Yiriwaso. After having reimbursed previous loans, they are looking for a third loan.

Konimba Fousseni D. plans to use her loan in order to purchase peanut seeds, materials and inputs from the large market of Kimparana. After winter, her products are stored for a certain amount of time in order to ensure they are valuable before being sold in the large market of Kimparana as well as in other markets nearby. They are often sold in large quantities to customers from other large cities.

The members of the group hope to each realise a profit of 30 000 FCFA (approximately 57 USD) which they will use to reimburse the loans and interests on the loans and their family's expenses.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
