La Fe 6,7 Group's story

Dioselina is the coordinator of her group La Fe (The Faith), and her story is representative of her group and of Esperanza's Haitian and Dominican (many of whom recently emigrated to the DR from Haiti) clients generally. Her group is located in the rural areas surrounding La Romana, where the sugarcane harvest dominates the economy and where running water (none of which is potable) and electricity are unreliable. She makes her home here in a simple structure with her common-law husband and their two children.

Dioselina is excited to be taking her second loan with Esperanza after having successfully repaid her previous loan and expanded her business. She plans to use this loan to invest in her business running a colmado (general store) by purchasing rice, flour and sugar to sell. She will use the profits to provide for her children's basic needs, including purchasing notebooks. She thanks you all for your support.

In this group: Dioselina, Lucia, Osni, Alicia, Yemesi, Sonia, Venancia, Gloria, Maria, Juana
