Elvie
Elvie G. is from the town of Sta. Josefa. She is 40 years-old and married with three school-aged children. To make a living, Elvie owns and operates a business in the agriculture sector raising crops. While not the only means for generating revenue, the main source of income for the business comes from planting and harvesting rice for sale. Elvie has been engaged in her business for over 18 years.

Elvie joined Kiva partner CEVI to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. Elvie has successfully repaid a previous loan from CEVI. Elvie is requesting a new loan of 15,000 PHP which will be used to purchase fertilizers, seeds and other farm materials. This loan will be the eighth loan taken out by Elvie from CEVI. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to pay the tuition fees of her children and improve her family's living conditions.

Given the state of devastation following this storm, borrowers living and working in these areas may have difficulty making repayments on their loans, thus making their Kiva loans higher risk. More information >>
