Lucy Margarita
Having mastered the wonderful art of tailoring, Lucy runs a micro-enterprise in which she makes all types of clothes for women, men and children. For her, the skill was a family tradition she perfected over years of practice and study, along the way making a bit of a name for herself in the neighborhood, thanks to the high quality of her work.

Lucy came to Fundación Mario Santo Domingo one year ago and has now applied for her second loan, this time with Kiva, that she plans to use to buy primary materials such as fabrics, thread, and buttons to turn into dresses based on her clients' measurements. Since she started with FMSD, Lucy has bought her materials in an efficient manner, without needing to maintain a special inventory that could potentially deteriorate over time in the humid climate.

Lucy's biggest challenge is that her workspace is cramped and is located within her family's home (a condition which currently leads to longer work days than she'd prefer). She dreams of setting up a workshop completely separate from her home so as to put a bit of space between her professional and personal lives. She also envisions her children (aged 15 and 21) becoming professionals and for that reason she and her husband work hard to encourage and finance their studies.
