Chann S. is a 26-year-old married father caring for two young kids. Both children are still living in the family home and are pupils in the local primary school. Chann is a recycling seller - he buys used goods to sell to a wholesaler, who then sells the goods in bulk to other countries. The used goods he deals in are mostly leftover electricity wires and plastics. His wife assists him with his business activities. Chann is looking for a loan to use as capital to buy more stock to increase his profits.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
