Chemwachar is 54 years old. He is married with no children. He is a farmer from Kitale town in Western Kenya. He has been practising mixed farming for 20 years and producing milk and maize, which he sells locally. He is also an agricultural contractor and earns an income from his services to the local people.
His biggest challenge in farming is the fluctuation in the prices of milk and the high cost of farm inputs.
He has requested a loan from Juhudi Kilimo for 93,600 KES to purchase and insure a dairy cow. This loan will enable him acquire a quality dairy cow that will produce enough milk to sell. The extra income from this loan will assist him meet his basic needs.
In five years time, he hopes to have increased his productivity by 50 percent.
