Pech S. is a 54 year-old widow farmer who lives in Kompong Tom Province. She is blessed with five children, three are married and the others are single. Pech's daughter appears on the left of the photo. They work together as farmers. They are able to plant crops at least twice a year. The coming rainfall is good for growing, but Pech needs a loan to plant seeds and to tend to a crop.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
