Ms. Yuliati is a persistent housewife. Newcomer from Java island, she lives in a rented home for Rp125,000 (about US$13.75)/month with husband and three children. She is selling vegetables around the neighborhood on a modified motorcycle. Every day she needs Rp500,000.00-Rp750,000.00 (around $55-$83) for a nett profit of Rp50,000.00 (about $5.50). She is doing this work to add family income. Ms. Yuliati's husband is in the buying & selling motor, and a workshop business with a profit of Rp1,000,000.00 (about $110)/month. Monthly expenses a month of Rp750,000.00 (about $82.50), and children's education expenses of Rp120,000.00 (about $13.20) are her reasons. The loan will be used in her vegetable sales business; also to finance the motor buying & selling and the workshop. Ms. Yuliati hopes the loan could increase the sales volume, so that her profit could increase to Rp75,000.00 (about $8.25)/day, and her husband's business to Rp1,500.000.00 (about $165)/month.
