Daphine Kasiri

Daphine is 35 years of age. She is a trained tailor doing business in the city center of Kampala, in the Craft Village of Uganda next to the National Theatre.
With her tailoring machine, she makes hand-crafted products such as quality bed covers, quality aprons, quality bags, and many more items. Rather than being paid a salary or making sales directly to customers, Daphine sells her goods to the workshop owners and to other Craft Village workshops around town.

Daphine was recently visited by a Kiva lender on her visit to Uganda and was persuaded to apply for a loan. She has applied for a loan of $1,000 to enable her to rent her own workshop, where she would be able to make her products and sell them directly to customers. She is hoping to pass on her skills to her children in the future.
