32-year-old T. Patrick is a hardworker, as evidenced by the organised way his banana-selling business is operated. Unlike some of the other banana-selling business people in Karambi, Ibanda, who buy and later resell to customers in not so hygienic conditions, he plants and sells his own bananas in a clean environment. He has done this for the last fifteen years and as a result of his good persuasive skills and good organization, he has got himself a good ready market for his bananas at his stall in Karambi.
With this experience behind him, Patrick knows nothing can hinder him in his endeavor to expand. Among the challenges that have caused a threat to him in the course of operating this business, has been the ever-fluctuating local market price of bananas. He has relied on his resilience to get him through this, however.
At present, Patrick makes profits amounting to 120,000 shillings a week. This married father of four is hoping this loan will get him far, in terms of buying mulches and pesticides for his banana plantations.
