Ali A. Abeileh is a young man from Jericho. He is a Palestinian National Authority employee. Ali is responsible for a big family that consists of his wife, parents, sister and brother. His salary from the Palestinian National Authority doesn't cover household expenses.
Ali's father owns a piece of land. Five years ago, Ali and his father started growing vegetables and distributing them to the neighboring market to generate a second income to support their big family. Ali took a $1,500 loan to purchase an agricultural pesticide sprayer, because the hot weather for which Jericho is known is good weather for worms to grow and harm plants.
Ali, who appears in the photograph, works the land after his working hours. Then, early each morning, he distributes the plant yields to the neighboring market.
