Togetherness Group
In this Group: Beatrice, George, Quita, Papa, Kumba
Beatrice B., who is holding the sign, is the leader of this group of five borrowers called Togetherness. She is 42 years old, married, and has six children who range from 9 to 26 years old. She was only able to attend school through 7th grade due to poverty but all of her children are attending school.

For ten years, Beatrice has been operating a tailoring shop where she sews garments and children’s clothes at Red Light Market, Paynesville, outside of Monrovia, Liberia.

Beatrice plans to use her 20,000 Liberian dollar portion of this 72,000 Liberian dollar group loan to buy more cloth to sew more garments and children’s clothes. She describes herself as a hardworking woman.

Beatrice’s goal is to improve her business, build a house, and educate her children so that they can have a better future.

Note on LEAP:

During routine partner monitoring, Kiva learned that LEAP's delinquency data may be understated due to technical problems with their reporting software. Because this report is key to our analysis of the risk of this partner, delinquency or default rates on loans to this partner may be higher than we expect. For further details, see LEAP’s partner page on Kiva.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
