Since 2000, Fatmeh has owned a sweet (dessert) shop. She produces cakes, Lebanese pastries and also does chocolate fabric and design. She does petit fours, cakes, sells ice cream, and more.
Fatmeh opened her shop after she saw that it was needed in her region. Since she has opened, she still doesn't face competition, since she is still the only sweet shop in her region. Her clients are people from her region. She decided on doing her business because she has experience in this domain, and also because she wanted to have independent work that will help her supplement her family's income.
Today, for the first time, Fatmeh is requesting a loan of $1,500 from Al Majmoua, a Kiva partner, to purchase a freezer for her ice cream. For the future, she hopes to keep on improving and expanding her work, and she plans on producing her own ice cream.
