Ericah is 52 years old. She is married with 6 children aged between 10-34 years old. Four of the children are currently attending school.
She is a dairy farmer from Litein town in Rift Valley Kenya. She has been farming for 30 years and has employed 2 people from the community. Her main product is milk which she sells to businessmen. Before venturing into farming, Ericah was operating a retail shop in Litein town.
Her biggest challenge in farming has been lack of enough water for her dairy cows.
She recently completed a previous loan from Juhudi Kilimo for Kes.45,000 and has requested this new loan for Kes.80,000 to purchase a dairy cow. This loan will enable her purchase a quality dairy cow and improve her dairy business. In future, she would like to improve her dairy farm and venture into the poultry business. She is requesting this loan to improve her business.
To facilitate a partnership between Kiva and Juhudi Kilimo, K-Rep Group (Juhudi Kilimo’s 100% owner) has guaranteed Kiva funds in the event of institutional default. Lenders should be aware that the risk of borrower default remains borne by the lender.
