Mr. Ny M. and his wife, Mrs. Sotheary Chheng, have been married since 2006 and have two young sons. They are living across the Mekong River about 15 kilometers from Phnom Penh City. Ny is not in the photo; his wife is pictured instead.
Ny and his wife are teachers. Besides teaching, Ny also raises cows at home and his wife weaves silk. Unhappily, his cow died, so he is asking for a loan of $500 to purchase one more cow to raise. He also will use a part of the loan to buy silk materials for his wife’s weaving business.
MAXIMA Mikroheranhvatho is a Cambodian microfinance institution founded in 2000 to help low-income rural and urban people and small- to medium-sized businesses (SMEs) access financial services. Sustainable access to credit helps to create jobs and enables business owners improve their living conditions, educate their children, provide health care to their families, and more. It also enables the rural poor to remain at home with their families, rather than moving to city centers in search of employment.
