This Kiva borrower is a 36-year old married man living with his wife and two young children in Lebanon. Fifteen years ago he started working for a company by transporting supplies. And in 2007, he purchased his own mini-van and started working on his own as a taxi driver. And he's thankful for his successful taxi business. In Lebanon, it is common to use taxi services to go between neighborhoods in a given town as well as to travel between different regions. These services are especially important in areas where the infrastructure is less developed, which is true for most of the towns outside of Beirut and its surrounding suburbs.
He is now requesting for a $1,200 loan from Kiva partner, Ameen s.a.l to improve the maintenance of his taxi and replace its tires.
Due to political and social challenges in Lebanon, personally identifiable attributes entrepreneurs may have been altered to protect their privacy (i.e., blurring portions of the borrower's picture, not indicating a name and location, etc.). Vitas appreciates Kiva lenders' understanding of these challenges and encourages them to continue their support for Lebanon's borrowers.
