Mrs. So K. is a 46-year-old resident of Kompong Tom province. She has skills for raising pigs and growing rice, and she currently raises a few pigs for a profit. Additionally, she goes with her husband to fish around the river for extra income. In a day, this couple is able to make $4 to control the financial crisis of their family, and they have five children. K. is taking out her first loan to grow rice crops during this farming season.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
