Libra Group
In this Group: Maria De Jesus , Yolanda, Maria Elena , Diana Karina
Libra is a group located in Toluca in Chalco, Mexico. Maria learned about the work that Fundacion Realidad does, and after talking with her neighbours they decided to form a group in order to be able to request a loan that will benefit their businesses. The members are housewives who like to have their own income and help with family expenses: Yolanda R. (children's clothing and costume jewellery sales), María Elena Solís (toy and gift bag sales), Diana Karina Rodríguez (footwear sales through a catalogue) and María de Jesús D. Solís (cosmetics sales through a catalogue).
María de Jesús is the group's representative; her family is made up of her child who is in first grade, and her husband Juan who is a driver.
She has sold cosmetics through a catalogue for two years, when thanks in part to the motivation of her sister in law she decided to learn a business. Now she is satisfied with her sales, and catalogues are changed every two months. She tries to take advantage of this, most of her clients are women. She plans to save part of her earnings to buy a plot of land and build her home. Maria plans to use the loan to invest in her products.
Each member has different hopes, but they each want to get ahead and plan to invest the loan in the purchase of products that they need, such as: gift bags, toys, catalogues, clothing, footwear, and costume jewellery. They are grateful for the help they receive from Kiva.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
