Mrs. In P. is 55 years old, married and the mother of eight children. Four of her children are married and live away from home, while other four still live at home and help the family by earning income at various jobs. Mrs. P. and her husband work as farmers, growing green beans and potatoes. After harvest, she sells her crop and plans a new one. Mrs. P. is applying for a loan to expand her farming business by planting a new crop.
Hattha Kaksekar Limited is one of the largest and most successful microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cambodia. The organization provides microfinance services to the poor, particularly women, in urban and rural areas. Kiva lenders’ funds will be used to expand the outreach of HKL’s financial services to a greater number of clients in rural areas of Cambodia.
