Iluminada
As a mother, Iluminada’s biggest dreams are always for her children and family. She wants to provide her children with a decent life. In 2000, she joined ASHI (Ahon Sa Hirap, Inc.), an MFI and Kiva partner in the Philippines. She hoped to have access to capital for the maintenance of her businesses. Her previous loans from ASHI were carefully utilized as additional rolling working capital for her tricycle (three-wheeled-vehicle) transport business and for operating a passenger jeepney (a small bus). The businesses are a big help for the family in covering their expenses and allow them to set aside savings for the future. She is requesting a loan of PhP 45,000 to pay for a renewal of city plates (LTO-Land Transportation Office-registration) and purchase spare parts for the maintenance of their tricycle and jeepney.

Iluminada hopes that her business will become successful someday. Along with the business success she is dreaming about, is the hope to see the graduation of her four children from college and to see them find a good job. She also dreams of having a store selling poultry feed someday to save for her family’s future. Iluminada wants to thank ASHI and Kiva lenders who are sponsoring this loan. That is one of the greatest opportunities for her to start reaching for her goals.

Iluminada C. comes from Antipolo, Rizal province, in the Philippines. She is a 43-year-old woman, married, and is the mother of four children. For her age, Iluminada is seen as strong and determined to improve their quality of life.
