Akhmadaga A. is a 57-year-old man who has been breeding cattle in the small village of Sabirabad since 1988. Akhmadaga is married and has four children who are grown adults. He sells cattle to the local butcher shops and residents. He has applied for a 1000 AZN loan to purchase two cattle and fodder. Akhmadaga has already successfully completed his first loan from AqroInvest through KIVA and he wants to state his appreciation to everyone who supported his business.
Aqroinvest Credit Union was founded by a group of 32 Imishli farmers in 2001, and has grown to become one of the largest credit unions in Azerbaijan. It boasts a portfolio of nearly $5 million and is wholly owned by its more than 3,500 borrowers, as of December 2011.
