Zahera N. is a young woman from Jenin, a city in North Palestine. Zahera is the mother of two sons, ages three years and one and a half years old. Zahera's husband, Ahmad, is a disk jockey for parties and weddings in Jenin.
Zahera opened her own business -- a headscarf (hijab) store -- two years ago. Zahera sells headscarves and accessories for headscarves, The store is located in the city center of Jenin and has regular customers. The store is prospering over time and Zahera wants to respond to the demand by providing a larger variety of accessories for hijabi women (women who wear a headscarf) and other items that they request. Therefore, she took a $1000 loan from FATEN.
In the photograph, her husband, Ahmad, appears in Zahera's store, because she doesn't want her picture to be published online.
