Ana Cecilia
Ana is 45 years old and lives in the La Paradera de Barranquilla neighborhood. She has a 19 year old son who attends university and her dream is to see him complete his studies and succeed in his career.

Ana has been working with " Fundación Mario Santo Domingo" since 2002. She knows when it's the best time to request loans because she is well aware of how much she earns and how much she should save. She began her relationship in order to increase her inventory of articles of clothing, and be able to deliver within her neighborhood and at a furniture store, where she is currently employed.

She is requesting this loan in order to be able to make improvements to her bathroom and repair the walls around her patio to improve the security of her home. She was able to make other improvements with the money from her past loans and her goal is to continue making improvements until her home is adequate. She is asking for a loan of 1,200,000 COP ($625).

Ana lives in a commercialized zone, located in the southwest of the city, very near religious communities dedicated to community development and supported by international organizations. They have helped improve her neighborhood and made it possible for many other people to study, start businesses, and improve their family relations; in other words, improving lives.

About Housing Loans

Many poor families cannot afford housing that meets their needs. When you make a housing loan on Kiva, you give people access to flexible capital to obtain or improve their homes. Better housing means better health, sanitation, and even educational outcomes for children. A house can also be much more for entrepreneurs who run businesses out of their homes. In this way, housing and small business loans on Kiva share a common purpose: to alleviate poverty and enable families to enjoy more stable lives.
