This is the first loan for the communal bank "Asociación de Todas las Sangres.” The members have a variety of economic activities with which they support their families. With a lot of effort, Lucy opened a store a year ago. With the earnings from her business she is able to support her 3 children and move forward with her plans.

Our member Ruth started her business with the help of a friend. She sells frozen fruit juice and gelatin snacks. Although at first she did not have very good earnings, she then decided to expand her business so that now she sells a variety of drinks, and with the earnings from her sales she is able to cover the household expenses.

Yeny is a member who travels constantly. She takes fruit from the Peruvian rainforest to sell from her home. In this way she can help with the household expenses.

The members are grateful for this loan and promise to make their payments according to their group agreement.

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
