Ángela R. L. is the representative of the "La Posta" group. She is a single mother with 3 children: Omar Emmanuel Cortes Luís, age 22, who is studying at the Technological Institute; Guadalupe Gisela Cortes R., age 19, who has finished secondary school; and Israel Cortes R., age 18, who has studied up to the third year of high school. Angélica works selling food, with the aim of improving her quality of life and that of her family. This business has motivated to work for a long time, since it has allowed her to provide food for her children and let them continue studying.

She invested her loan in buying supplies and ingredients for preparing food, such as chicken, meat, eggs, tomatoes, salt, etc. She works in a kitchen to sell her food; she works there because it is a good place and she thinks selling food is a good business, since it gives her higher earnings. She is also motivated to work in this field because this income helps her family get ahead.

Angélica reports that she is very happy working with her fellow members of "La Posta," because they are hard-working and honest, and all of them want to improve their lives.

Additional Information

This is a Group Loan

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.

Kiva's Field Partners typically feature one borrower from a group. The loan description, sector, and other attributes for a group loan profile are determined by the featured borrower's loan. The other members of the group are not required to use their loans for the same purpose.
