John is a 56-year-old married man with five children. He has ten years' experience in dairy farming and sells animal products such as meat and milk. John also does carpentry to earn a living. He joined Kiva partner, Faulu Kenya, under a group called Better Ventures Self-Help Group. He is a very active member of the group and attends its weekly meetings regularly. John has also been saving his money with the group. He uses his savings to boost the business. Due to his commitment in paying his loans, he has been allowed to service another loan of 60,000 KES. With this loan, he plans to buy a dairy cow and animal feed. He hopes to become a large-scale farmer in the future.
