Aïssatou
For her borrowing needs at the micro-finance institution U-IMCEC Thiès, Ms. Aïssatou S. provided us this interview:

What is your business, Madame ?
-    Madame Aïssatou : For ten years, I have been doing commerce in cloth, mobile phones, milk, laundry products, anything that will sell in general.  And I very often place orders for these good with wholesalers in Thiès.  I rarely sell at the retail level.

How did you choose this line of work?
-    Madame Aïssatou :  I saw that people were active in this trade, and it was much easier to do.  It doesn't require much schooling.  And so, my peers have pushed me into it.

What are the most important aspects of this work?
-    Madame Aïssatou :  Getting supplies.  This is why I supply myself quite often from Nouakchott, the capital of  Mauritania, where goods are less expensive.

What is the purpose of the loan you are requesting?
-    Madame Aïssatou : This loan, if you give it to me, will allow me to stock up, to develop my business, and to expand it.

Madame Aïssatou is on her third loan request at this branch office.  She is married and the mother two children.
