The Tièssiri group consists of four married women from monogamous families. On average, they are 29 years old and have two children. They all live in the Darsalam neighborhood of the urban commune of Ségou (4th Administrative Region of Mali) where they are well-known by virtue of their neighborhood, friendship and marriage connections.

This group trades in several different lines of merchandise and is repaying its third joint loan from Soro Yiriwaso. Its members sell clothing, embroidered cloth, damask, bed linens and beauty products.

Mme Kame M. is the member who is developing a market in cosmetics, buying and selling beauty products, perfumes and incense.

She plans on using her loan to buy ten packages of creams, ten packages of milk in tubes, five packages of perfumes, and several different deodorants.

She buys in Bamako, and occasionally in Ségou. She sells from her home and by going door-to-door.
Mostly her customers are women, but a few are men. She sells for cash and on credit, and hopes for a monthly income of 35,000FCFA to be used to pay back her loan and to help pay family expenses.

Le groupe Tièssiri est composé de quatre femmes toutes mariées dans des familles monogames. Elles ont un âge moyen de 29 ans avec 2 enfants. Elles habitent toutes le quartier Darsalam, Commune Urbaine de Ségou (4ème Région administrative du Mali) et se sont connues à travers des liens de voisinage, d’amitié et de mariage.
Ce groupe qui fait le commerce d’articles divers et est à son 3ème prêt solidaire avec Soro Yiriwaso. Les membres de Tièssiri vendent des habits : des tissus brodés, du Bazin, des draps de lit et des produits de beauté.
Madame Kame M. est le membre qui évolue dans le créneau de la cosmétique avec l’achat vente de produits de beauté, des parfums et de l’encens.
Elle utilisera son prêt pour acheter : 10cartons crèmes, 6 cartons de lait et de tubes, 5 cartons de parfums et déodorants de différentes variétés.
Elle s’approvisionne à Bamako et quelques fois à Ségou. Elle revend ses produits à domicile et en ambulant.
Sa clientèle est composée essentiellement de femmes et de quelques hommes. Elle vend au comptant et crédit, elle espère réaliser un bénéfice mensuel de 35.000FCFA qui sera utilisé pour, rembourser son prêt et contribuer à certaines dépenses familiales.

Soro Yiriwaso is a microfinance institution that works primarily in rural and semi-urban areas of Mali to provide underprivileged communities with access to financial services.The organization facilitates access for disadvantaged clients, particularly women, to new resources and services, fostering solidarity and cooperation among its clients. Kiva lenders’ funds will enable Soro Yiriwaso to expand its outreach and target even more underserved Malians involved in business and agriculture.

In a group loan, each member of the group receives an individual loan but is part of a larger group of individuals. The group is there to provide support to the members and to provide a system of peer pressure, but groups may or may not be formally bound by a group guarantee. In cases where there is a group guarantee, members of the group are responsible for paying back the loans of their fellow group members in the case of delinquency or default.
