A loan of $425 helped to purchase and insure a dairy cow.

Margaret's story

Margaret is 50 years old and married with six children who are all adults. She is a farmer from Central Kenya in Murang'a town. She has been farming for over 20 years and has over time employed workers on a temporary basis. Her only source of income is the cereals and milk from her farm that she sells to the local market. Her major challenge in the farming business has been lack of enough income to improve on the number of dairy units.

She has requested this loan from Juhudi Kilimo for 31,800 Kenyan shillings to purchase and insure a dairy cow. She says that this loan will enable her to acquire a good dairy cow that will earn her enough income and help her support her children in college. In the future, she is hoping to have more than five dairy cows, hence improving her living standard.

She says that Juhudi is really helping small-scale farmers not only by financing them, but also by training them on how to do business.
