Born in 1984 in Cotonou, economic capital of Benin, K. Sidonie is married to AGBOKI Janvier, a carpenter. The couple has three children, some of whom are in school. About ten years ago Sidonie settled in the Fifadji neighborhood of Cotonou, where she lives with her children and husband. The couple pays the various family expenses jointly.

Sidonie has never been to school. To meet her expenses, she sells corn. She also prepares and sells corn mash as a street vendor. She gets her supplies in Dantokpa, international market of Benin.

Sidonie has been in business for about three years, and has already received two loans through ALIDé, which she has fully repaid. In order to build up her business and better meet the various needs of her customers, Sidonie is seeking a third loan.

Née en 1984 à Cotonou, capitale économique du Bénin, K. Sidonie est mariée à AGBOKI Janvier, un menuisier. Le couple a trois enfants, dont certains sont scolarisés. Il y a une dizaine d’année que Sidonie s’est installée au quartier Fifadji à Cotonou, où elle vit avec ses enfants et son mari. Le couple assure ensemble les différentes charges familiales. Sidonie n’a jamais fréquenté l’école. Pour faire face à ses besoins, Sidonie vend du maïs. Sidonie prépare et vend également de la pâte de maïs de façon ambulante. Sidonie s’approvisionne à Dantokpa, marché international du Bénin. Sidonie exerce cette activité depuis trois ans environs, et a déjà bénéficié de deux prêts de ALIDé, prêts qui ont été bien remboursés. Dans le but de rehausser le niveau de son activité et de mieux répondre aux besoins variés de sa clientèle, Sidonie sollicite un troisième crédit.

Alidé is a Beninese NGO that works to reduce poverty by offering sustainable access to productive loans like this one in addition to savings, training sessions, and social work to low-income families.

Supporters of this loan should be aware that there is some risk of being repaid late. Because the Beninois Ministry of Finance has imposed restrictions on the amount of money Alidé can send to Kiva, the organization can only send monthly repayments in installments smaller than $13,000. This means that some Kiva lenders may receive their repayments late. However, Alidé remains a healthy institution in good standing with its creditors, and Kiva would like to continue working to support its clients.
