Alily D. is from the village of Magsaysay, Misamis Oriental. She is 58 years old, married, and has 6 adult-aged children. To make a living, Alily plants and harvests coconut for sale. She has been engaged in her business for over 26 years and earns approximately $350 a month for these activities.
In 2004, Alily joined HSPFI to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. She has successfully repaid a previous loan of 28,000 PHP from HSPFI. This previous loan was used to pay for services to increase crop yield. Alily is requesting a new loan of 30,000 PHP which will be used to invest in expanding the business, and part of this loan will be used to pay for services extended by her farm helpers. This will be her 15th loan from from HSPFI. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to supplement the income of her family.
HSPFI is one of the accredited partners of Opportunity International in the Philippines. It is based in Cagayan de Oro City and is reaching out to the poor households of Northern Mindanao.
