A loan of $3,450 helped a member recharge mobile phones.

San Rafael Group's story

These members belong to the communal bank 'San Rafael'. There are 15 happy and hard-working members. They live in the city of Cusco and get together once a month in the Arariwa area, Huanchac department, in Cusco.

Dolores is 43 years old. She has 4 children - 22, 18, 16 and 12 years old. She alternates her activities in her home with her door to door phonecall service business, lending mobile phones and landlines. She deposits the money she earns in the bank and lives off the interest. Dolores recharges her 3 personal mobiles and rents them out at 50 céntimos per minute to all national destinations.

The other members mainly work with mobile to mobile calls, and landline calls from mobile phones. They are a group of friends who have the same purpose. One member, Gabriel, arrived after the photo was taken because he had permission and arrived late to the bank. For this reason he isn't in this photo.

The members are thankful for the loan and promise to continue meeting their debt repayments within the established time period.
