Aslin is a 60-year-old woman who is widowed with three children aged from 30 to 36. She lives in Hikkaduwa, a town along the southern coast of Sri Lanka.
Aslin has a tailoring business and, at the moment, she is running the business from her house and receives help from her eldest daughter. Her other children are married. She is a very active and a hard worker, which helps her with her customers. She has lots of experience in this type of business.
Aslin is seeking a 30,000 LKR loan from BRAC Sri Lanka to buy thread, clothes, and a new sewing machine. In the future, she hopes to eventually open up her own shop, so she does not have to perform her tailoring services from her house.
