A loan of $2,575 helped a member to purchase men's pants to sell.

Amistad 2,5 Group's story

Antonia is the coordinator of her group Amistad (Friendship), and her story is representative of her group and of Esperanza's Haitian and Dominican (many of whom recently emigrated to the DR from Haiti) clients generally. Her group is located in the rural areas surrounding El Seibo, an agricultural area where running water (none of which is potable) and electricity are unreliable. She makes her home here in a simple, rented structure with her husband and child.

Antonia is excited to be taking her tenth loan with Esperanza, after having successfully repaid her previous loan and grown her business. She plans to use this loan to invest in her business selling clothing. She will be purchasing men's pants in the Capital, at the main market, and then re-selling them in her community for a profit. She will use the profits to invest in her home. She will be purchasing a bed, sheets and constructing a living room. Her long term goal is to own her own home. She thanks you all for your support.
