Mr. Porfirio S. is 47 years old and has been married to Mrs. Maria Davalos, 41 years old, for 23 years. The couple has two children, an 18 year old daughter and a 14 year old son. Their daughter is finishing high school and plans to begin college studies next year, while their younger son is just finishing 8th grade.

Don Porfirio was working at his city's Coca Cola factory, until it closed in 1997. With the severance package he received, he started to sell wood (raw material for making furniture) as a travelling salesman, and he used a truck to do so. At the same time, his wife began buying and selling chickens.

He is asking for a loan to buy wood in the largest possible quantity, so that he can get the best price.
